Albert W. Garbett "Bill", an esteemed social worker and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on April 12, 1943, in Dayton, Kentucky, Bill lived a life marked by dedication, service, and unwavering compassion for others.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Bill served during the Vietnam War, where he was honored with a Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart for his bravery and commitment to his country. His military service laid a foundation for a life devoted to helping others, which continued as he embarked on a successful career as a social worker for Cincinnati Hamilton County. Bill found immense fulfillment in his work, believing that aiding his clients was one of his proudest accomplishments.

Educated at St. Lawrence School and Elder High School, Bill earned his Bachelor’s degree from Xavier University. This educational background equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary to make a significant impact in the lives of many.

In his personal life, Bill was characterized by his kindness, honesty, and a giving spirit, earning him the title of an American Hero in the hearts of those who knew him. He had a passion for reading and cherished memories of going camping, experiences that brought him joy and connection with nature.

Bill is survived by his loving children, Melissa (Darin Gray) Garbett and Andrew (Gloria) Garbett. He was a proud grandfather to Ashley, Phoebe, Kennedy, Kristin, Matthew, and five great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his legacy forward.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert G. and Mary Garbett; his sister, Alice "Honey" Garbett; and his twin brothers, William and George Garbett, who tragically passed shortly after birth. His wife, Paula, whom he was married for 35 years.

The community is invited to celebrate Bill's life during the visitation on March 5, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home, 4619 Delhi Rd. A Mass will be held at St. Lawrence Church in Cincinnati on March 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
His burial at Dayton National Cemetery will take place on Monday, March 10th at 10:00 a.m.

Bill Garbett will be remembered for his profound kindness, unwavering dedication to helping others, and the loving family he leaves behind. His contributions to the lives of many will continue to resonate, ensuring his legacy endures for generations to come. Memorials may be made to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Leukemia Foundation.
