Carusone
Americo L., devoted man to family, faith, and friends - joined his beloved wife of 59 years, Angela, and all his brothers and sisters - Ralph, Chester, Benjamin, Rose, Geno, Emelia, and Armand - on October 20, 2016 at the age of 87. He leaves behind sons Peter, Joseph (wife Sharon), and Vincent; grandchildren Pete (wife Caroline), Megan, Daniel (wife Jamie), and Amanda; great-grandchildren Dominic Americo, Madison Grace, and Tyler William; and countless friends he considers nothing short of family. Known as Uncle Em, Mingo, Tony, Emeric, or just "M," he was the first and only son born in the United States on New Year's Day 1929 to Pietro and Matilde (Lamberti) Carusone upon their arrival from Italy. A lifelong Cincinnati native, he attended Woodward High School and later met the love of his life, Angela "Babe" Angilecchia. They were married on June 13, 1953 at St. Aloysius Church. He would always consider this the luckiest day of his life. Americo took pride in everything he did, worked hard to provide more than he could for others, and truly relished the friends he made along life's journey - especially those he was blessed with getting to know during his time with Marmer's. He loved to laugh, live simply, eat mostaccioli, cheer for the Bengals (most seasons), play the piano, a talented artist, dance the Jitterbug, and share stories with friends and strangers. He was loved by many, and loved many, many things - but above all, he loved his time with his family, the nieces and nephews he considered his own, the country that gave him his last name, and the one that gave him his first. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 28 at 8:00 am until 9:30 am at the Vitt, Stermer and Anderson Funeral Home 4619 Delhi Road. Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 AM at St. Dominic Church.
