Barbara "Bobbie" J. Dempwolf

June 26, 1932 — December 6, 2023

Barbara “Bobbie” Joan Dempwolf (née Beck) died peacefully at the age of 91 in the early morning of Wednesday, December 6, 2023.

Bobbie was born in Livingston, New Jersey on June 26th, 1932 to Anna and Nelson Beck. Born prematurely, Bobbie’s strength and independence carried her through her earliest days, and were every bit as present at the end of her long and rich life.

She grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Douglass College with a degree in home economics. After college she worked as a home ec teacher before leaving to raise her family, and later served as a substitute teacher and baking consultant for Procter & Gamble.

She married Charles John “Jack” Dempwolf on December 24th, 1954, and enjoyed 58 happy years of marriage before his passing in 2013. Bobbie is survived by her sons Charles (Sheryl) and William (Pamela) Dempwolf, daughter Linda (Gregory) Conyers, grandson Christian Ferguson, granddaughters Anne Ferguson, Caroline Ferguson, Laura Dempwolf, Andrea Dempwolf, Kaci Dempwolf, and Beth Gabert, and great-granddaughter Ruby. A lifelong animal lover, Bobbie also counted many dogs as beloved members of the family over the years.

In the 1960s Bobbie and Jack built a house at Elk Lake Shores in Kentucky. They enjoyed summers there with friends and family for decades. She could often be found tending her garden, floating on the lake, and enjoying boat rides with Jack and their dogs.

Bobbie was known by all as a prolific and skilled quilter. She started quilting during the 1976 bicentennial, and was a longtime member of the Ohio Valley Quilters Guild. The hundreds of quilts she made won awards, comforted those in need, and warmed countless friends, family, and loved ones.

Bobbie was an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church for almost 50 years, where she was involved in the knitting ministry, bible studies, and other volunteer activities. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling with her best friend Joyce and gathering with her community of friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 14th from 10 AM until time of funeral service at 11 AM at Northminster Presbyterian Church 703 Compton Rd. Cincinnati, Oh 45231.
