Carl M. Mcfarland

Carl Matthew McFarland passed away, peacefully, in his sleep on December 15th, 2022.  He was born June 7, 1958 to Carl E. McFarland and Imajane (Gabbard) McFarland.  Carl was the oldest sibling of four.  Carl is preceded in death by his mother, who passed in 1977 followed by his brother Steven Christopher in 1979 and then his Father in 2011. Carl was always the “Father Figure” to his surviving brother, Douglas McFarland (Beth) of Raleigh, NC and sister, Kelly (Randy) Williams of Hyden, KY.  To say he was an excellent big brother is an understatement.  He has always been the rock in so many family losses and challenges. His death will leave an unimaginable hole. Carl was a “Jack of all trades” and never sat still for long.  He has many business dealings and trades that kept him busy but he always made time for his family and friends anytime there was a need. He adored his 5 nieces and 2 nephews, Kenzie Washburn, Olivia McFarland, Christopher McFarland, Alex Washburn, Taylor Hendrix, Liam McFarland and Elle McFarland. Being an Uncle was everything to him and he was the best at it.  He only ever bragged on them and, according to him, they never did anything wrong, They were PERFECT.  Carl’s kindness and compassion is what defined him to not only his immediate family, but his many close cousins and friends.  Even if you only knew him a short amount of time, everyone has a “Carl Story”.  The adventures and stories coming out of Cincinnati life long friends and Patricks Bar are pure entertainment and define his personality so well.  Although you have been taken much too soon we must say “Farewell Carl”.  The loss of your gentle, kind, generous, rare and loving soul will be felt indefinitely by those who knew and loved you.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 28th from 4 PM until time of Blessing at 7 PM at the Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home 4619 Delhi Rd.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
