Colleen McKinney

Colleen McKinney, a special child of God, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on April 27, 1964, Colleen brought joy and laughter to those who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a medal winner in the Special Olympics, showcasing her talents in swimming and bowling, where her competitive spirit and determination were evident.

Colleen had a zest for life that was contagious; she loved to dance to music and often sang along to her favorite Elvis and Rod Stewart tunes. Her bright personality shone through during family gatherings and special events, where she truly came alive. Colleen enjoyed watching comedy TV shows and had a particular fondness for her favorite soap operas, which she would enthusiastically discuss with family and friends.

Beloved by her family, Colleen is survived by her siblings: Michael (Peggy) McKinney, Michele  (Jeff, deceased) Cushman, Brian (Judy, deceased) McKinney, and Cheryl (Kevin, deceased) Ruehl. She will also be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Michael (Brittany) McKinney, Renee (Johnny) Wilfong, Denise (Matt) Pelton, Tracy (Gary) Daugherty, Doug (Teresa) Cushman, Christine (Doug) Bryant, Meredith (Josh) McKinney-Taylor, Kyle Ruehl, and Danielle Petzold, along with great nieces and nephews, Kiya, Jaden, Tyler, Kayla, Brenden, Maxwell, Brooklynne, Sophia, Tenley, Mia, Lydia, Everley, Clara and Jenna. Colleen's family is thankful for the caregivers at Terrace View Gardens.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, George and Florence McKinney, and her step-mother, Doris McKinney and her sister, Maureen (Dan, living) Petzold, leaving behind a legacy of love and beautiful memories.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at St. Dominic Church (Gathering Space) 4551 Delhi Rd. This will be followed by a Mass celebrating Colleen's life at 10:00 AM.

Colleen McKinney's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Memorials may be made in her name to Special Olympics Hamilton County (https://www.specialolympics-hc.org/)
