Donald “Sonny” Eugene Strack II, 66 of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on April 24, 2024, in his home. Sonny, of Miami Indian heritage, was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana and moved to Cincinnati eight years ago to be closer to his favorite teams, the Reds and Bengals.
Sonny spent over 40 years as the Crab Master, entertaining crowds of people with his unique hermit crab races. In his day job he worked for TSA at the airports in Fort Wayne, Indiana and in Covington, Kentucky, for over 20 years. One of his hobbies at work was to identify Vera Bradley purse patterns that travelers carried with them. He was an avid sports enthusiast, a golfer, animal lover, and the most kind and giving person you would ever want to meet.
Sonny was a devoted husband of 35 years to Cathy (Barker) Strack, brother to Sally Kline (Gary) and Nancy Strack, and uncle to several nieces and nephews. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Strack and Carol Strack, and his brother Chris Strack.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Kitty City at Cincinnati Animal Care of Hamilton county. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date. Vitt, Stermer & Anderson are honored to assist the family with arrangements.
