James B Bosse

d. August 28, 2024

James B. Bosse, "Big Jim" a beloved member of both his family and the community, passed away on August 28, 2024 in Switzerland County, Indiana. Born on October 23, 1962, in Cincinnati, James lived a life defined by service, engagement, and an unwavering dedication to those around him.

A graduate of Western Hills High School, James went on to carve out a successful career as a mechanic with Concrete Coring Company for 30 years., where he was known for his incredible skills and expertise. He earned the respect and affection of his colleagues and clients alike, becoming celebrated as the “best mechanic ever.” James was more than just a tradesman; he was a human being who embodied kindness and generosity. Described as a gentle giant with a heart of gold, he was always smiling and found joy in every aspect of life. His exuberance for the simple pleasures of farming, including caring for cattle, chickens, and quail, painted a picture of a man deeply in love with the land.

James was a devoted brother and uncle, cherished by his living family members: his brothers Jerry (Kathy), John (Patty), Jeff (Christy), Jay (Jane) and sisters Mary Ann Bosse, Katie (Ron) Pio, Marlene Dole and  Annette (Pat) Rees. As an uncle, he shared laughter and warmth with his nieces and nephews, proudly serving as “Uncle Jimmy” to 30 of them and “Great Uncle Jimmy” to 41 great-nieces and nephews. He was a loving Godfather to Missy, Ashley, Kelly, and Luke, and his legacy will undoubtedly live on through the countless lives he touched.

Jim was known not only for his work ethic but also for his vibrant personality. A big teddy bear, he gave the best hugs and built connections effortlessly, making everyone he met feel welcomed and valued. His passion for farming was evident in his love for mowing grass, driving his tractor, and, most notably, joyfully riding his side-by-side, a gift for his 60th birthday. His knack for tinkering and fixing things made him a well-regarded figure among friends and family and showcased his commitment to always helping others.

James's love for life and community engagement made his presence known in Switzerland County, Indiana, where he will be remembered fondly by many. His hobbies spanned from gardening to collecting Hotwheel diecast cars and being a Nascar fan, but above all, it was his ability to foster connections and genuine relationships that defined him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Netty Bosse and his sister Sue Beck.
