Jane R. Randolph

October 1, 1926 — March 6, 2013

Affectionately known as âaA"Grandma JaneâaA to family and friends, Jane Taulbee Russell Randolph lost her battle with Histiocytosis early the morning of March 6, 2013. With her children and husband at her bedside, she peacefully passed away. Her determination to have all present was truly a miraculous act. Even in death she brought her family together, that was Grandma Jane. Her rich life can be measured in accomplishments as a mother, randmother, wife, athlete, musician, gardener, cook, volunteer and faithful servant to God and her church, the Madeira-Silverwood Presbyterian Church. Her extended family included the people of Greenacres, her bible study and church. She was a âaA"rockâaA to lean on in times of trouble and a source of praise in good times. She was ever-present in the lives of her family and friends. She had a unique and deep relationship with her grandchildren who cherished her unending attention and instilled in them an appreciation of a life of faith. Her high standards and unconditional love provided a strong moral compass for those who knew her. She was born October 1, 1926 in Maysville Kentucky, attended the Eastman School of Music and graduated from the College Conservatory of
Music at the University of Cincinnati. She was an accomplished pianist and soprano soloist who was a much sought after wedding soloist in her younger years. Jane led an active life of tennis, golf and gardening with special attention to collection and preservation of native wild flowers. She had a hole-in-one on the 5th hole at Camargo Club in 2002. In the kitchen she flourished as a student of Chef Jim Gregory and was acclaimed for her Christmas Chocolate Sauce. Her volunteer activities began with the USO during WWII and continued with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra where she was a founder of the âaA"Sharps and FlatsâaA Saturday morning radio broadcasts for children. She was President of the Womenâaas Association of the Cincinnati Historical Society and o-editor-in-chief of âaA"Picnics in the ParkâaA, a cookbook that benefitted the Society. She was an active member of the Junior League of Cincinnati. She was a Whiz Kidz mentor and Sunday School teacher. As an original member of the Board of Trustees of the Greenacres Foundation, she helped the dream of Greenacres become a reality that included musical performances by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati May Festival and Southern Gateway Chorus. She also served on the Quest for Vision Campaign to benefit the University of Cincinnatiâaas Department of Ophthalmology and was a Trustee of the L&L Nippert Charitable Foundation. She believed in serving the community, her friends and family, and leaves an example of giving that we all appreciate.
She leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Guy D. Randolph Jr., her children; Guy D. (Sandy)Randolph III, Milton Russell Randolph, Carter F. Randolph and Mary (Mike)McGraw; her grandchildren, Taulbee (mike) Cherry,
Alyson (Jay) Sunden , Meredith and Louie Randolph, Victoria and Alexandra Randolph, Sadie Jane, Michael, Taulbee and Maggie McGraw. For Jane the blessing of a wonderful family meant âaA"my cup runneth over.âaA We have lost a source of sunshine. Her memory and example will sustain us. We are all better for having known and loved her. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Greenacres School Bus Fund to allow more school children access to Greenacres Education programs (Greenacres Foundation, 8255 Spooky Hollow Road, Indian Hill, Ohio 45242).
