Jerry Lee McQueary, a beloved member of the Cincinnati community, passed away on November 17, 2024 at the age of 81. Born on December 23, 1942, Jerry devoted 25 years of his life to serving as a Sergeant with the Cincinnati Police Department and remained an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police after his retirement in 1992.
Jerry's devotion extended beyond his career; he cherished his family immensely. He is survived by his wife, Carol A.; his children, Stephanie (Carol), Staci (Kevin) Childress, and Matthew (Amanda); and his grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Griffin, Caio, and Cecilia. He was also the loving brother to James, Hugh, Tom, Bill, and Fred and the late Ed, Albert, Alice McQueary and Hazel Russell. Jerry’s family was his pride and joy, and he consistently demonstrated this through his active involvement in their lives, especially on the sidelines of their various sports activities.
Jerry was an avid sports enthusiast with a deep love for coaching, dedicating countless hours to coaching his and other children in youth sports. He was Woodward High School's first varsity baseball coach. Through The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati, Jerry was a mentor to many youth, instilling in them a love of sports and community. He remained a lifelong supporter of the Club and its values, engaging with young people and encouraging them to achieve their potential.
An avid traveler, he enjoyed creating lasting memories with his family. Jerry was a passionate fan of Notre Dame football and had a fondness for thrilling moments at the horse races. He could often be found placing bets at the horse track or casino. Jerry especially loved disco music, with The Bee Gees being his favorite band. He loved a hearty breakfast, sharing stories and laughter around the table with loved ones.
While Jerry will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on through his family, friends, and the many lives he touched. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jerry’s life during visitation on November 22, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Fraternal Order of Police service at 12:00 PM at Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home Delhi, located at 4619 Delhi Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45238. His burial will take place at St. Joseph New Cemetery following services. We will continue celebrating his life at The Farm, 839 Anderson Ferry Rd.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati.
