Devoted father and mentor of Chris (Timothy) Berger, Julie Bates, Jay (Christine Zevon), Dan (Marcia), Beth, Joe (Sue) and Paul. Wonderful grandpa to Glenn, Tracey (Spencer), Charity (Angelo), Emily (Mark), Amy (Kevin), Angie (Phil), Michael, Kimberlee (Brenden), Laura, Valerie (David), Katie (Ryan), Jonathan (Julie), Rachael, Emily Jo, Benjamin (Maria) and Stacey (Chris). Loving great-grandpa to Alyson, Kansas, Cameron, Reece, Faith, Ethan, Owen, Tyler, Kendall, Avery, Nevaeh, Lily, Kobe, Phil III, Nico, Nica, and Easton. Dear brother of the late Dorothy (Paul) Magliano, Rose (the late Frank) Denton and Lucille (the late Richard) Suddendorf. Dear brother in law of Marion (the late David) Schum and the late Marian (the late Charles) Fink. He also leaves behind a host of loving relatives and friends. John was well known in Cheviot for passing out note pads when taking his walks. Wednesday, December 29, 2010, age 84. Visitation Sunday 4-8 PM at the Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home 3425 Harrison Ave. Funeral Mass Monday 10 AM at St. Martin of Tours Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Martin's Adopt-a-Student program.
