John J Ristas

John J. Ristas died December 8, 2016 in Cincinnati after a long illness at the age of 95 years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian (nee Temper). John is survived by his loving daughter Linda Barber and son-in-law Raymond Barber; grandchildren Christopher (Michelle) Barber, Mark Barber, John (Stephanie) Barber, Gregory (Amy) Barber and Elizabeth (Rob) Maeder; great-grandchildren Michael, Nicholas, Graham, Benjamin, Makenzie, Isabella and John Oliver and his brother Sam Ristas, Carmel and Joe Michel and numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents Marco and Helen (Rammos); brother Cristo, sisters Mary Horace and Florence Monroe. John was born in Elyria and attended Elyria High School. He resided in Huron, Ohio. John was a proud veteran, serving his country as a Naval medic in WWII. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and a life member of VFW. He worked for the Cleveland Stevedore Company. John's interests were many with a particular passion for carpentry. A private mass will be celebrated at St. Dominic Church, Cincinnati, Ohio on December 14, 2016. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Huron.
