Cramer Laurence (Larry) Ralph, Born May 6, 1924, in maternal grandparents' home on Back Avenue, in Oakley, OH. Beloved husband of Ruth (Brown) Cramer for 57 years. Devoted father of Than J. (Sandra) Cramer of Lawrenceburg, IN and Greta C. (Skip) Wilday of Cuba, NY. Loving Papaw of Courtney, Oksana and Trek Wilday of Cuba, NY. Brother of Mary (Mike) Welsh of Columbus, OH and brother-in-law of Juanita Burkhart of Centerville, OH, Joan Brown of Marion, IN, Margaret Ann Brown of Columbus, OH and Ralph France of Mount Victory, OH. Also left behind are many dear friends and family. Mr. Cramer was preceded in death by a granddaughter Kaleigh E. Wilday, parents, W. Oliver and Norma (Meister) Cramer, brother Allen Cramer and sister Virginia France. After graduating from West Liberty HS in 1942, he completed one quarter at The Ohio State University before entering WW II in the Army, training in Texas and serving in various Pacific Islands. After an Honorable Discharge in 1946, he completed his Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Industrial Arts Education in 1949 and began his teaching career at Mansfield Senior HS. Mr. Cramer completed three summers of graduate work at OSU, receiving his Master of Arts in Education in 1952. Further teaching appointments followed in various Cincinnati Public Schools, after which he served as HS Principal in Bethel, OH. His career continued in education in Centerville OH schools, as he served as Business Manager for the Centerville City Schools, 1962-1967. Upon leaving Centerville, Mr. Cramer spent the remainder of his career in Greenhills-Forest Park Schools as Assistant Superintendent, Business, until retirement in August 1983. During his career as Business Manager, he supervised the construction of thirty-one new school buildings and additions. The Cramers enjoyed attending 30 different Elderhostel programs throughout the US and Canada. Mr. Cramer was a devoted Kiwanian since 1968, during which he enjoyed 36 years of perfect attendance. Other travels included trips to Hawaii, England, Germany and several summers with the grandchildren in Cuba, NY. The Cramers were members of the Northminster Presbyterian Church and enjoyed the early Sunday morning services. Mr. Cramer, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Hospice of Cincinnati after a courageous fight in dialysis for 12 years. Visitation will be held at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 703 Compton Rd. during the hours of 4-8 PM Friday, followed by the services on Saturday 10 AM. The burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in the Memorial Mausoleum directly following the service. Friends are invited to a reception at the church immediately following the burial.
