Wnuk, Mary Florence 88, of Wyoming, Oh, died June 16, 2008 in Vitas Hospice, Cincinnati, Ohio. Mrs. Wnuk was born in Blackburn, England on December 30, 1919 to the late James and Clara (Feiden) Smith. She was educated in England and graduated from the University of Liverpool with B.A. degrees in History and Geography in l940. Following graduation she taught in English private schools in Manchester until 1950. Mrs. Wnuk met her future husband, Mieczslaw M. Wnuk, in 1946. He was a former Polish ski champion and Polish soldier serving in the British Army after escaping from occupied Poland in l940 and France in l943. At that time, he was working as a textile engineer in Manchester at the same plant as Clara Smith. Mrs. Smith introduced him to her daughter. Mr. Wnuk immigrated to the USA in l950 with Mary following in early 1951 aboard the French liner Liberte'. They were married on January 23, 1951 in Holy Cross Church in Trenton, NJ and remained in the Trention, NJ area until October, 2007 when they moved from Mercerville to Wyoming, Ohio to live with their older son, Andrew J. Wnuk, and his wife, Vicki K. Wnuk. Mrs. Wnuk held various positions in the Trenton and Princeton, NJ areas during her life. These included being a High School Teacher at St. Anthony's H.S. in Trenton, NJ (1953-1969), a Search Specialist at the Princeton University Firestone Library (1969-1971), Mutual Fund Sales at Petit, Inc., in Princeton (1971-72) and a Bookkeeper at the Trenton State College Bookstore (1972-78). She retired from the Princeton University Credit Union as an Assistant Mgr. in 1983. She is survived by a son Andrew J. Wnuk and his wife Vicki of Wyoming, Ohio, another son John R. Wnuk, his wife Sheila and their daugher Alexis of Jamison, PA, two great-nieces, Helen and Charlotte Rawcliffe of England, and a great nephew, John Rawcliffe, also of England. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ruth Rawcliffe, and a nephew Philip Rawcliffe. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 19, 2008, from 6pm until time of funeral blessing at 8pm at the Anderson Funeral Home, 8611 Winton Road in Finneytown, OH. Mrs. Wnuk requested that her remains be cremated. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery in Trenton, NJ. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother who worked tirelessly to provide her family an environment rich in learning, creativity, and appreciation of life's small pleasures like hot tea, marmalade on toast, or a gin and tonic on a hot summer day.
