Robert (Bob) Eugene Maly, 71, passed away on July 6, after a brief battle with cancer. Bob was the beloved husband of Joyce (Macke), devoted father to Rob (Kristin) Maly, Katie Maly, Betsy (Keith) Hammersmith, Cari (Nick) Zeeman and doting Papa to Cora, AJ, Jack, Evie, Henry, Lily, Nina and Scarlett, the son of the late Harry and Helen Maly, brother to Tom (Peggy) Maly, the late Barb (Bill) Nolan, Paul (Linda) Maly, Mary Beth Maly, Dot (Dave) Hampton, Patty Maly(Bill Muchmore), Bill (Judy) Maly, and the late Gene Maly.
Bob lived life with love, passion and sincerity. He touched countless lives both personally and professionally, but always made family his priority. His 30+ year career at Great American Insurance was the foundation of many friendships, his leadership style was influenced by his firm belief in teamwork, and he attributed his successes to all those who worked with him.
Bob never met a stranger and found value in every interaction he had with people. He was a lifelong learner, frequently finding new passions and meeting new people along the way. He created memories with his family and friends through music, travel, fishing, cooking, gym, babysitting, woodworking, and volunteering.
During retirement, Bob served on several nonprofit boards, a role that was begun as a founding member of the DSAGC and culminated in 12 years of board service with Cornerstone Renter Equity and 3 years as acting Executive Director, a deeply fulfilling experience for him.
He also enjoyed hours at his farm, with family and friends. Towards the end of his journey, he frequented the farm for peace and solace amidst the chaos of his diagnosis. We like to think the farm was a little slice of heaven for him. Bob was a man of deep faith and spirituality and was very much at peace going home to his Creator.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 14 from 4-8pm at Vitt, Stermer and Anderson Funeral Home, 4619 Delhi Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45238. Memorial Mass will be on Saturday, July 15 at 10 am at St. Dominic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cornerstone Renter Equity (https://renterequity.org/donate/), an organization Bob served for over 15 years.
