Ronald J. Kruse, a dedicated family man and renowned designer, passed away on October 30, 2024 Ron's life was marked by his exceptional talents as a designer, earning him the prestigious title of Food Service Designer of the Year for Federated Department Stores. He was the proud owner of KLR Associates and held numerous design patents. His award-winning designs can be seen in hospitals, golf course club houses, department stores, and military installations, showcasing his creative prowess and commitment to excellence in every project he undertook.
Born with an insatiable curiosity and a super intelligence, Ron was always eager to learn. His personality was characterized by generosity, loyalty, and a straightforward manner that resonated with those around him. Beyond his professional achievements, Ron took the most pride in being a steadfast supporter of his family's aspirations, always present to help them achieve their dreams.
Ron was a talented athlete. He grew up playing baseball at Boldface Park, bowling and setting pins and sewing catcher's mitts for McGregor Sporting Goods.
His military service from 1958 to 1962 in the Air Force, where he served at Cape Romanzof and Castle Air Force Base, was a testament to his dedication and discipline. Ron's commitment to his community did not end with his military service; he actively participated in various civic organizations, serving on the Delhi Park Board and Zoning Commission being a past president of the Delhi Business Association, and holding the position of Delhi Trustee from 1993 to 1997. His contributions also included his involvement with Meals-on-Wheels and designing Five Points Park and Storey Woods, reflecting his deep concern for the welfare of others.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Kruse (nee Witte), and his sister, Mary (Loyd) Vaught. He leaves behind a loving family, including his significant other, Jean Allen; his children, Karen (Craig) Melvin and Kim Kruse; and his cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Nicole (Adam), Adam, and Jacob who affectionately called him "Pi". He is also survived by his brother, Bill (late Margaret) Kruse.
Ron's life will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 with Mass at 10 AM at St. Dominic Church, 4551 Delhi Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the St. Dominic Education Fund or Crossroads Hospice.
Through his generosity and creativity, Ron Kruse touched the lives of many. His legacy of love, support, and creative talents will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
