Rosemary “Rosy" Teresa Schwarz, 92, peacefully entered her loving Savior’s arms at 3:29 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
Rosemary was born on July 11, 1931 to the late William and Lillian Verax. She lost her hearing at the age of 3 after contracting meningitis.
Rosy attended St. Thomas High School in Fort Thomas, Kentucky and was crowned Prom Queen her senior year, despite being the only deaf student.
Rosy was blessed with a loving family. She raised her three children with patience, discipline, and humility. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of Jesus Christ. After raising her children, Rosy held various jobs and retired from the United States Postal Service. She was a member of the Greater Cincinnati Deaf Club and Union Baptist Church where she immersed herself in the Christian / Deaf communities; both being her life-long support.
Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God gave her peace and the strength to overcome many of life's challenges, one being a Breast Cancer Survivor.
Rosy was a child at heart and loved to play (and often won) LRC (Left, Right, Center) and UNO at family gatherings. She was easygoing and her kindness and outgoing nature made her easy to love. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is pain-free and at peace with her creator.
Rosemary is survived by her son, Michael Schwarz; her daughters Amy (Mike) Enzweiler, and Rebecca (Darryl) Orr; her grandchildren Amy (Mark) Hartig, Adam (Ashlea) Schwarz, Chris Schwarz, Raymond Crail, Rachel (Jason) Strunk, Bo Orr, Tessa (Nathan) Burk; and her great-grandchildren, Anna Schwarz, Richelle Schwarz, Harper Schwarz, Hazel Schwarz, Lincoln Schwarz, Hannah Barnes, Maddison Crail, Cayden Lang, Oakley Orr, Maisyn Strunk, and Weston Strunk. She is preceded in death by her brothers, William, Arthur, & James; her sister, Lillian; and her parents.
Rosemary will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will take place at Nicholson Christian Church, 1970 Walton Nicholson Rd. Independence, Kentucky on Sunday October 15, 2023, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Light food will be served. At 4:00 p.m., family and friends are invited to listen and share their fondest memories of Rosy. In honor of Rosy, please wear something purple, her favorite color!
The family requests memorial donations be made to Union Baptist Church, Deaf Ministry 1985 Union School Rd. Union, Kentucky 41091 (Please note “Deaf Ministry in memory of Rosemary Schwarz”). You may donate online at: https://subsplash.com/u/unionbaptistchurch-ky/give
