Commander Russell E. Schuster (USNR), beloved husband of Velma Jean Schuster (nee Helms), loving father of Russell "Gene" (Saunie), Donald (Cheryl) and Barbara (Robert) Laskey, dear grandfather of Russell III, Kristopher, Christian, Dana, Sarah and Donald.
Russ was a generous man of many talents and led a very full life:
· Graduate of Withrow High School, Park College (B.S.), and University of Cincinnati (M.S.)
· High School Science Teacher at Greenhills High School from 1949 - 1952,
· Purchasing Manager at Merrell Dow Pharmaceutical Company (32 years),
· 50 year resident of Finneytown
· Lifetime Scouter: Eagle Scout and Scout Master of Troop 858,
· Retired Navy Officer:
o PT Boater in World War II including D-Day and then in the Pacific
o Naval Reserves for 20 years, retiring as a Commander
o Active in the PT Boaters, Inc. which included writing a history of RON 34
· Elder, Trustee, Deacon and all around handyman at Northminster Church
· 10 year volunteer and Lead Electrician for several homes through Valley Habitat for Humanity
· Trustee for St. Edmonds Conference Center, and
· Current resident at Maple Knoll Retirement Village where he will be missed for his hand carved toy cars and how he and his wife shared their love of traveling through their audio-visual presentations.
