Samuel Gifford Calkins

Calkins Samuel Gifford, born May 22, 1925 in Bagley, WI, passed away June 21, 2009 at the age of 84 surrounded by his family at his home. He is the beloved husband of the late Mary Louise Calkins (nee Ruka) and Barbara Jane Calkins (nee Stewart), loving father of Mark Denton (Melissa) Calkins, Nancy Hart (Jeffrey) Aston, Betsy Stewart, Nancy Conley and Kim (Richard) Glassmeyer, grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Sam was an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, an avid fisherman, an Army Air Corps WWII veteran, a perfect breakfast maker and the best storyteller. He was also very dedicated to his family and a life-long learner. A memorial service will be Wednesday 1:30 PM at the Northminster Presbyterian Church, 703 Compton Road (45231).
