Scott Alan Cox Jr., born on April 12, 1989, in Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on September 22, 2024. He was a beloved partner, son, brother, and friend who was dedicated to serving his community.
A proud graduate of Oak Hills High School, Scott embarked a career as a Cincinnati Police Officer in 2021 motivated by a lifelong commitment to public service. His military service in the United States Marines from 2007 to 2015 was marked by bravery and commendable achievements including the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with Combat “V”), the Combat Action Ribbon his service in Afghanistan, and several other prestigious awards which reflect his valor and dedication.
Scott's passions extended beyond his professional endeavors; he was an avid sports enthusiast who found joy in wrestling, football, and baseball. In his leisure time, he cherished fishing and golfing, showing particular loyalty to the Cincinnati Bengals.
He leaves behind his loving partner, Shayla Hogan, and his children; Madison, Emmerson, Cooper Cox, as well as his former wife, Jackie Cox. He is also survived by his parents; Scott and Rhonda Cox. Scott was a proud brother to Joe Cox, his partner Ajay, along with their children Allyson Alfonson, Jullius, Alayha, Jaedyn, Jeremiah, Jaxson Cox and his other brother, Tyler Cox, his wife Sarah, and their children Colton and Aurora Cox. He is also survived by his grandmother, Joyce Hale, and was supported by a loving extended family which included aunts and uncles: Shari Holt (Mark), Mike (Theresa) Cox, David Cox, Eddie (Pat) Hale, Bryan (Dawn) Hale, and Kathy (Mike) Brand, alongside his many cousins.
Scott is preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Barbra Cox, and Ed Hale, as well as his uncle Shawn Cox and cousin Justin Holt. Their memories continue to inspire those who carry his legacy forward.
A visitation to honor Scott’s life will take place at Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home, 4619 Delhi Rd, on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
Scott Alan Cox will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and he will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, passion for life, and generous spirit.
