She is survived by her sons, Christopher Michael Edwards of Mainville, Ohio, Richard William Edwards of West Chester, Ohio, daughter Gabrielle Marie Holodnak of her home, stepson William Henry Holodnak and his wife Hannah, her parents Edward M. and Joan G. Krech of Salem, SC, sister Kathleen and her husband Wayne Bridges of Tamassee, SC, and her brother Edward M. Krech III and his wife Donna of Easley, SC.
Susan demonstrated and taught "From Sheep to Shawl"- from sheep shearing to carding, to spinning, to weaving a final product. She enjoyed reading, hiking, camping, fly fishing, gardening, travel, and was a volunteer at the Cumbres & Toltec Railroad in China, New Mexico two summers.
During her youth Susan moved with her family to France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, and England and attended schools in each. She spoke English, French, German, and Dutch. She attended Ponteland Teachers College in England and also received a degree from Northumberland Agricultural College and became a licensed shepherdess. Susan graduated from Northern Kentucky University Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Anthropology. She did research and presented papers on Kentucky pioneer villages and an African Filani wedding blanket. She was also a Reiki Master.
