Thurman A. Smith

Smith Thurman Allen, affectionately known as "Smittie" to his many friends and family peacefully left this world on Friday, January 30, 2009 to be with his wife and soul mate, Mary Simpson Johnson Smith. He was 89 years old. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Diebold of Cincinnati; loving sons, Gary Allen Smith (Theresa) of Independence, KY and Randy Lloyd Smith (Kerry) of Verona, KY; 3 grandchildren, Brett (Christina) Smith of Colton, NY, Lorin Sonnenberg of Waterville, OH and Kendy (Andy) Walker of Union, KY; 5 great-grandchildren, Madeline and Maximillian Smith, Carson Orr, William and Conner Walker; loving step-daughters, Mary Lou Krull and Pat (Alex) Campbell, both of Cincinnati, OH; step-son, Jack Johnson; many loving and caring step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition, he leaves behind an extended family of loving nieces and nephews. Smittie was a proud WWII veteran and worked at Rutenschroer Florist in Delhi, OH for 60 years. He was a member of the Anderson Ferry Church of Christ and a dedicated volunteer with his wife, Mary, at the Anderson Ferry Food Pantry. His sparkling blue eyes, kind and honest nature, and loving disposition touched many lives and will always be remembered. Visitation will be Monday 6-8 PM at the Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home 4619 Delhi Rd. Funeral sevice will be private.
