Shirley Mary Gubser

Shirley Mary Gubser (nee Manning) passed away peacefully at the Moorings Park Retirement Community in Naples, Florida on March 5, 2017. She was 91 years old. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 25, 1925, to Archibald and Ethel Manning, she was raised in Cincinnati and graduated from Commercial High School in 1941. At the age of 16, she went to work as a messenger for the Federal Reserve Bank in Cincinnati with her income helping support the family. She later became branch manager of Seven Hills Savings Association in Cincinnati. She married World War II Army Air Corps veteran Frank J. Gubser in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 4, 1946. They made their home on the west side of Cincinnati and raised five children. Frank passed away in 1982. In 1993, Shirley moved to Naples, Florida and owned a condo at the Sapphire Lakes Community. She served on the Board of Governors while living at Sapphire Lakes. In 2002 she moved to Springboro, Ohio to be near family living in that community. Finally, in 2010 she moved back to Naples, living at The Carlisle of Naples Retirement Community. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, a brother, Junior Manning and three sisters: Verna Manning, Norma Key, and Louise Neumeister. She is survived by her five children: daughter Marcia Anderson and husband David of Naples, Florida, son Frank Gubser and wife Jeanne of Melbourne, Kentucky, daughter Eileen Andersh and husband Dennis of Beavercreek, Ohio, daughter Carole Gubser of Naples, Florida and daughter Laurie Kolkmeyer and husband Mike of Union, Kentucky, eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. A short service will be held at the chapel of St. Joseph New Cemetery, 4500 Foley Rd. Cinti, OH 45238 on Saturday, March 11 at 11 AM with burial to follow the service. www.vittstermeranderson.com
